This project supports the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)*:
1 – End Poverty
According to UNESCO, 420 million people could be lifted out of poverty if everyone had completed secondary education. A child whose mother can read is 50% more likely to live past the age of 5. And one extra year of school can increase a woman’s earnings by up to 20%!
The Global Partnership for Education states that “Education is a powerful agent of change, and improves health and livelihoods, contributes to social stability and drives long-term economic growth. Education is also essential to the success of every one of the 17 sustainable development goals”.
4 – Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all
Tusitawi provides quality education from pre-primary through secondary school and promotes strong literacy and numeracy skills. We start with the earliest grades to prepare children for future learning. We support teachers to with resources that enable them to become more effective teachers. We believe in equal education for girls and boys and that students must learn while they are in school, simply being there isn’t enough. We also gather data to report on the success of Tusitawi.
