Our newsletter is sent out three times per year to share updates on our work to transform education and make a difference in children’s lives.

Here’s a story from Wema, a grade 8 student in Kenya, that was shared in a previous newsletter.  She shared her reflections about discovering Tusitawi:

“One day, I just came back from school, my mom came home with the biggest smile on her face. I asked her why she was so happy, and she said she had a surprise for me that involved the internet. I immediately knew that it was a trick, because she never tells me to go on the internet or watch TV.

She told me to get out my computer and I did so quickly. She took control and logged me into a website called Tusitawi. At first I was confused by what it was and why I needed it. I thought school was enough, but I wanted to try it. She told me what it was and what I can do on it. I started scrolling through and got interested. I was mainly attached by the Ted-Ed videos. I started watching and reading more and more and eventually grew to like it, a lot.
After about 3 hours or so of scrolling through it, my mom told me that it was an educational website. At first I didn’t believe her but I realized that I was scrolling through some subjects that I do in class like math, social studies, and English. I was surprised, I never am this excited by school work. She also told me that I can subscribe to it, so that I can continue. Not only did I like it for fun, but it can help me with school work and I will be listening. I have been on trial and I have liked it a lot. She has been considering subscribing me to it. I can’t wait to see what she says. I have also been considering telling my friends about it. I think they will enjoy.”
